Thank you for purchasing a MOTU MIDI Interface. Below you will find late-breaking information not found in the MOTU MIDI user manual.
Installing MOTU USB MIDI Interfaces (Windows XP/2000/Me/98SE)
Installing MOTU Parallel Port MIDI Interfaces (Windows XP/2000)
This setup disk includes MIDI consoles and drivers which support MOTU’s USB and Parallel port MIDI devices.
Unfortunately, Windows 2000, and Windows 98 Se have a limit of 10 WDM/KS MIDI ports.
It is recommended that the user run the setup.exe executable included with this installation package BEFORE attaching the USB MIDI interface. The setup is necessary to install the appropriate console, and makes Plug and Play simpler. Note that there is no console for FastLane MIDI but running setup will still simplify installation.
If you have already run setup:
A) Power on the USB device
B) Windows will detect the MIDI interface, select ok/next for all options
If you have not already run setup:
A) Power on the USB device
B) Windows will detect the MIDI interface and launch the new hardware wizard
C) Select the “Search for a suitable drive for my device (recommended)” option and click next
D) Check “Specify a location” and click next
E) Browse to the location of the installer, the file “MotuUSB.inf” should be located in this directory, and click next
F) The dialog will indicate that it wants to install the drivers for “MOTU USB MIDI” and will indicate that it found the drivers at the path indicated in step D, click next
G) The wizard will now detect a MIDI driver, click ok/next for all options
H) Your interface is now installed
PARALLEL PORT INSTALLATION (for WIN XP/2000 only):
It is recommended that the user run the setup.exe executable included with this installation package. The setup is necessary to install the appropriate console. To install the parallel port drivers:

C) Select the Hardware tab and click Device Manager
D) Open the Ports (COM & LPT) tree
E) Right click the “Printer Port (LPTX)” to which you’ve attached your MIDI interface and select “Properties”
F) Select the “Port Settings” tab
G) Select the “Use any interrupt assigned to the port” option for “Filter Resource Method”
H) Click “OK” and close the device Manager window, returning to the System Properties control panel
I) Click the “Hardware Wizard” button.
J) Select “Add/Troubleshoot a device” and click next
K) Select “Add a new device” and click next
L) Select “No, I want to select the hardware from a list” option and click next
M) Choose “Sound video and game controllers” and click next
N) Click “Have Disk…”
O) Browse to the location of the installer, the file “MotuPar.inf” should be located in this directory.
P) Select the “MOTU Parallel MIDI” model and click next
Q) The wizard will now detect a MIDI driver, click ok/next for all options
